Hello, friends!! It’s a new week…but I don’t know how I feel about it. My holiday break is over, and I’m back in Charleston for the first day of school. Why does it always go by so fast?? It feels like it was only a few days ago that I was headed to Charlotte for Christmas. I guess my favorite time of year is over, and now I just have to wait another 350 days for Christmas Eve 2018. Huhhhh, so sad.

Anyways, today brings one of my favorite outfits on the blog to date. This jacket is one of my favorite purchases of 2017. It comes in three colors in the leather version, and five colors in a suede version. I actually jut bought the suede version a couple weeks ago, and I cannot wait to wear it. It will be on the blog very soon. I think a cute jacket can make an outfit. You can throw it over a t-shirt and jeans, and the outfit will be instantly dressed up. It makes everything so easy. In this post I’m wearing a super simple black dress and black tights, and the leather jacket combined with the leopard booties makes the look something a little extra.

I hope you all are having a fantastic start to your week. My parents are coming this weekend to visit me, and I am counting down the days. Visits from the parents mean trips to the grocery store and maybe a little Target trip too. Have you seen their Valentine’s Day section??  So much pink, so little time. The perfect place to buy things you absolutely don’t need! My specialty!

Ah, Halloween. Part 1 of pre-Christmas festivities. At least that’s how I see it in my mind. Thanksgiving is Part 2. I mean, isn’t Thanksgiving just pre-Christmas? It’s a day of eating and being with family, and basically just giving you a preview of how the whole amazing month of December is going to be, and I’m not complaining. I’m a Christmas fanatic so my mind basically just thinks in terms of Christmas the entire year. Every summer I think, “Oh boy, we’re halfway there!” I just love it so much!

Halloween isn’t exactly my favorite of all of the holidays. I enjoy it more for the time of year it’s in and that it means that fall is here. But it’s not as fun when you’re not a little kid and have to buy your own candy.

Since I’ll be working this Halloween and don’t have any plans, I’m not planning on dressing up this year, so I wore the next best thing for a Halloween look: all black. If you want to put very little effort into a costume, which is what I usually do, you could throw some cat ears on with this look and be good to go. I know a lot of Halloween connoisseurs are probably thinking, “Wow, that’s the most pathetically lazy costume idea I’ve ever heard,” but I promise I’ll make up for it around Christmas. If there is one thing I am not around Christmas, it’s pathetically lazy.

I hope you all had a great weekend and are getting ready for super fun Halloween festivities next week! Here’s a festive idea from the book of “How Hayley Celebrates Halloween”: sit on your couch with a bottle of wine and some Milky Ways, and maybe watch some Law & Order: SVU, because that’s as scary as you get. You’ll be in for a fun night!
