Happy Monday, everyone!! I hope you all had a great Mother’s Day! Thankfully, I have been in Charlotte all weekend, so I was lucky enough to get to spend the day with my mom.  I cooked a huge dinner for her yesterday, with the help of grilling duties from my dad. My dad grilled steaks, and I cooked chipotle shrimp skewers with grilled pineapple, grilled asparagus, stuffed mushrooms (which are always a HUGE hit), knock-off Red Lobster biscuits, and white Texas sheet cake. Geez, I’m feeling fat just thinking about it haha. I LOVE to cook, and any excuse I have to cook for others, I will take it. Not to brag or anything, but I outdid myself in the kitchen yesterday lol.

How perfectly does this outfit go with this yellow Charleston house, by the way? That’s the best part about taking blog pictures in Charleston. There’s so many options for scenic photos, and you can walk just a few houses down and get a totally new location. The thing that isn’t good about photo shoots in Charleston, though? The humidity. I feel like the humidity has really held off the past couple months, but alas, it has arrived. Man, I’m really looking forward to months and months of bad hair days (#sarcasm)!

I hope you all had a great weekend, and also a great week ahead of you! I have some really cute outfits coming to the blog this month that I can’t wait to share, so stay tuned! And if you have any recommendations for posts you would like to see, please let me know!

January Strolls

How was your New Year’s, everyone?? Mine was pretty good! Nothing too wild though…my boyfriend and I actually ended up calling it a night at around 10:30 haha. Just a couple of crazy kids, huh?

This is a nice casual outfit that I thought was so easy and simple, but still managed to look casually chic. Maybe one day I will use the word ‘chic’ without feeling super pretentious, but until then I’m just gonna keep saying it. Everyone loves an outfit that looks good with little effort, right? Also, I can’t recommend these boots enough. They are the same ones I was wearing in this post, but in black. Told you I wanted to get my hands on them, didn’t I? They are selling out fast at a lot of places, so I suggest grabbing them while you can.

I’m enjoying my last week off before school starts again in a week. Ugh, isn’t that gross? Did I not just finish my last exam like a week ago?? It’s actually been three weeks since I finished my last exam, but it might as well have been one week ago because it has flown by.  Just thinking about sitting in class again makes me want to take a nap. And, ya know…cry.

Neutrals Can Be Fun

And just like that, my favorite time of the entire year is over *sobs, cries, blows nose, weeps*. It actually brings me to tears a little bit. I know I’m being dramatic and that I have so much to be grateful for, but I always feel really sad after the holidays are over. I don’t want to drink Starbucks out of the plain white cups, or hear boring music on the radio. And you never realize how bland your house or apartment normally looks until you take your Christmas decorations down. I’ve already seen some people take their decorations down and I cant believe it! Just a few days have passed since Christmas and they’re already down?? What’s the rush?? I can tell you right now, mine are going to be up until February. That’s just how I do things at the Murray house.

One thing that’s brought me joy during this dark time in my life haha, has been spending my Christmas money and buying clothes. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…I’m materialistic and love to shop. Take me as I am.

These shoes are one of my favorite gifts that I got for Christmas this year. Let me tell ya, they make me feel so fierce. I literally want to buy them in every color. I want to buy a new pair of black booties, so if Sam Edelman brings back this style again next year, a black pair will definitely be on my wish list.

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas with your families and friends, and are doing a better job at coping with the fact that it’s over than I am!

Cold Shoulder Sweatshirt Dress for $55

Lush Sweatshirt DressVia Spiga Heeled Sandals (sold out, so similar here, and here) • Lisi Lerch EarringsTory Burch Crossbody (older style) •

If you are looking for a comfy dress that’s also cute as a button, this is the dress for you. I’ve never owned any sort of sweatshirt material dress before, but I finally decided to try one after I saw that this one had the cute ruffled cold shoulders and was only $55. Once it gets a little chillier, I plan on wearing it with my tall suede tan boots, or even with some brown tights and my tan ankle boots!

Did y’all have a good weekend? I had a great weekend with my boyfriend as we ate our little hearts out, and he so kindly took these blog photos for me, as well as blog photos for three other outfits (he’s such a trooper)! As I type this, I’m procrastinating on studying for a Spanish test and watching The Santa Claus… #NEVERtooearly. Let’s just hope you all are being more productive than I am right now.

Have a great week, friends! And Merry Christmas! …Oh shoot, sorry. The movie is rubbing off on me already.

Perfect Little Black Dress

IMG_9497IMG_9448IMG_9443IMG_9446.jpgIMG_9520IMG_9452.jpgIMG_9479.JPG

Bobeau Cold Shoulder Dress (30% off) • Via Spiga Heel in ‘Straw Suede’ (40% off) • Whitley V Necklace (sold out, but cute necklaces by same brand here, and here) • Tory Burch Clutch •

Hello, friends! How is the hurricane treating you all? I really hope everyone is doing okay! Luckily Charleston was spared this time, but I’m pretty sure we aren’t totally out of the woods for the next couple months, considering hurricane season just started. Maybe my stress level wasn’t cut out for living on the coast.

If you are looking for a great little black dress, this dress is so perfect. It is really comfortable, and can be styled soooo many different ways. It’s perfect for work or internships, or even for just casually romping around on the weekends. It’s also thin enough that it can be worn in the spring and summer, but can still be warmed up with some layering. I’m telling you, people, this dress is fantastic. I know y’all are probably thinking, “Hayley, it’s a plain black dress. Chill out,” and you’re probably right. Actually, you’re totally right. But I would never get this excited over a plain black dress for nothing, so you can trust me.

I am planning on doing a post this month showing a bunch of different ways that this dress can be styled, just to prove my point and show that I am not totally dramatic.

Again, please be safe if you are in the path of Irma! Although not having school and getting to come home for a few days has been pretty darn great, worrying about my apartment and flooding isn’t too fun. Have a great week!
