Hey, pals! I hope you all have been doing well!! I am in a super good mood today because I checked the status of my passport this morning, and it is on its way to me!!!! I will give y’all a sort of brief background of the passport drama that I have been experiencing the past month or so.

For those of you that don’t know, my boyfriend, Juan, and his family are from Medellín, Colombia, and around the holidays, we made plans to make a trip there this summer with all of his family and I. I have never been out of the country before, so this trip is a huge deal to me! Not only because it will be my first trip out of the country, but because I can’t wait to see the country where the love of my life was born, and to be immersed in the culture that his family has welcomed me into with open arms ever since we started dating over four years ago.

Since I have never traveled out of the country, I have never had a passport, so I applied for my passport a little over a month and a half ago, giving me a little over 2.5 months to get it! Well apparently what I had always thought was my Texas birth certificate, was actually a Texas birth card, so basically just a short form birth certificate.  I got a letter in the mail from the passport agency telling me that they cannot use a birth card to issue a passport. So ever since I received that letter, I have spent the past 3.5 weeks scrambling around to get a copy of my birth certificate. Oh yeah, and crying too. Like a lot. I don’t handle stress well at all, and have always been a worrier.

But after finally getting my birth certificate (thanks to the help of my grandma!! Hi, Nonnie!!!), I checked my passport status today, and it is on the way to me!!! Thank the Lord!!! I feel so relieved and feel like I can actually be excited about the trip now! In fact, I’m so excited that I’ve already started planning my packing list! Keep in mind that the trip is over three weeks away lol.

Speaking of my packing list, this dress is on it! (Can I get a round of applause for that smooth subject transition??) It is so comfortable and flowy, which is why I want to take it with me to Colombia. It’s going to be really hot, so I am planning on packing a ton of dresses and shorts. I also plan on eating more than my fair share of arepas on the trip, so flowy dresses are a must.

I hope you are all having a great week!!! Do any of y’all have passport drama stories? Or is it just me who is gets stuck in these foolish situations?

Accessorizing With a Neck Scarf

Soprano Top (old, similar here, and here) // J. Crew Jeans // Marc Fisher Wedges // Urban Outfitters Neck Scarf // Lisi Lerch Earrings

Hello friends! How was your Easter weekend? I can’t believe that Easter has already passed. This year is just flying by. How can I get school to go by quickly, but get every other moment to slow down?

I wore this outfit a couple weeks ago when I was in Memphis with my dad over spring break. I had planned to take cute blog photos in it around Memphis, especially in front of Sun Studio where Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash recorded songs. But unfortunately when my dad and I went to go take pictures, not only was the sky super dreary and grey, but it was extremely windy too. I couldn’t get one cute shot because the wind would be blowing my hair in some whacky direction. And because I have no patience and get easily frustrated when taking blog pictures (Fun Fact: It’s my least favorite part of the entire blog process), I finally gave up because I knew it was a waste of our time. I ended up having zero curl left in my hair after the excursion. My boyfriend ended up taking these pictures for me when I got back to Charlotte. I wish they could be cute Memphis photos for y’all!

I am really enjoying the neck scarf trend right now, and I really like what they add to an outfit! I feel like I look trendy and classic at the same time when I wear them, if that makes any sense. Do you remember my romper from this post? I plan on wearing the neck scarf with it, and I think it will look so cute!

I hope you are all having a fantastic week! I am very excited for the next couple months because I have some really cute outfits planned for you all!

Gingham Dress for Easter

Red Dress Boutique Dress (unfortunately sold out, so skirt in same pattern here; other cute pink gingham dresses here, here, and here) // Marc Fisher Wedges // Lisi Lerch Earrings

As crazy it may seem, Easter is only a week and a half away! When I saw this dress, I knew I had to have it and that it would be perfect for Easter…and every other day. Is there ever a bad day to wear a pink gingham dress? This dress is also under $50, super comfortable, and has pockets. It pretty much sells itself…Unfortunately it sells itself too well, because it is sold out, but I linked some other cute pink gingham dresses above! If it is restocked, I will let everyone know on Instagram! I plan on wearing it so much this spring and summer. It would look so cute with a hat too. Or cowgirl boots!

I am finally back in Charlotte from my trip to Arkansas. I am going to be here for a few days before I head back to Charleston, so I am giving myself a mini vacation. My mom and I are going to get our nails done, I’m going to get some goodies from Ulta, and my boyfriend and I are going to have a date night to celebrate our 4-year anniversary, which was a couple weeks ago. I have to plan a flowy outfit to wear so we can eat our little hearts out. Don’t get me wrong, I want to look nice for him too, but…priorities.

Blue and White + My Favorite Restaurants in Charleston

Zoe Top (old, similar here, and here) // J. Crew White Jeans // Sam Edelman Shoes // Lisi Lerch Earrings

Happy Monday, everyone!!! Today I decided to do something a little different than I normally do and thought it would be fun to share my favorite restaurants in Charleston. If there is one thing I know a lot about other than shopping, it is food. The places I chose are go-to’s of mine and restaurants that I always recommend to tourists when they ask for suggestions. Leave a comment and let me know what you think about these kinds of posts from me! Also, have you eaten at any of these restaurants? If you have, which one is your favorite?

My favorite places to eat in Charleston

Halls Chophouse

Halls is 100% my favorite restaurant in Charleston. It is definitely more of a special occasion restaurant (unless you are rollin’ in the dough) and is pretty pricey, but it is absolutely worth it. First of all, they treat you like a king. The service is phenomenal, and out of the four times I’ve eaten there, there has never been time when one of the Hall brothers hasn’t come up to our table to thank us for dining with them. Most importantly, the food is just downright spectacular. Their steak is always cooked perfectly, and they have so many different cuts to choose from. The sides are family style, so you almost always get to take home some leftovers with you.

What should you order?

filet mignon (make sure you get the black truffle butter as an accompaniment!!! You will regret it if you don’t), pepper jack creamed corn skillet, lobster mac and cheese

Boxcar Betty’s

This is one of my boyfriend’s favorite restaurants to eat at when he comes to visit me. It is a drive if you are visiting and staying downtown or at the beach since it’s in West Ashley, but it is definitely worth the drive. It’s in this tiny little shack-like building on the side of a busy road, but the inside is really cute and cozy, and the chicken sandwiches are so awesome. If you are staying in Charleston for awhile and have time to kill during one of the days of your visit, it would be a great place to eat a casual lunch after a long morning at the beach.

What should you order?

the boxcar chicken sandwich, the chicken “not so waffle” sandwich, fried pickles with ranch, fried green tomatoes with ranch

O-ku has the best sushi in Charleston, in my opinion. It is a very “hip” and “happening” restaurant with a cool vibe (do you think they would kick me out if they heard me say “happening” in there?). They also always play good music too. But the food is super good, and it is another go-to for me when it comes to nicer restaurants in Charleston. P.S., if you live in Charlotte, the O-ku in Charlotte is not nearly as good as the one in Charleston.

What should you order?

rock shrimp salad, the potato roll (my favorite sushi roll of all time), lobster temaki, yakiniku fried rice

Tattooed Moose

This is another of mine and my boyfriend’s favorites! It is a dive bar that serves the absolute best greasy bar food. Everything I’ve had there has been outstanding. And keep in mind, when I say “greasy bar food,” I don’t mean in the gross greasy way, I mean in the, “Wow, I know this isn’t good for me, but it makes a great cheat meal” way. I highly suggest checking it out one day if you’re in the mood for a beer and some comfort food.

What should you order?

the duck club (definitely share with another person, unless you’re a total savage and can eat it by yourself. In that case, I admire you), duck fat fries, the thanksgiving sammy (I was going to recommend the meat and cheese platter, but I just looked at the menu and it looks like they got rid of it! I’m so sad!)

Taco Boy

Everyone loves Taco Boy, and it’s one of my favorite places to get together with friends to enjoy a casual meal. They have great margaritas and I every time I go I really want to buy one of the hilarious t-shirts they sell! Overall, it’s just a fun atmosphere, and a great place to go after a day in the sun too!

What should you order?

chips and queso (you shouldn’t even need me to tell you this), nachos with cowboy beans, tempura shrimp taco, carne asada taco, pineapple-infused frozen margarita

Sugar Bakeshop

I really wanted to narrow this list to just five restaurants, but I just couldn’t not put this little bakeshop on the list! I loveeee this place, and when I leave Charleston after college, this will be one of the places I miss the most. First of all, it is so quaint and adorable. It’s downtown, but off the beaten path and quite a walk from all of the shopping and the CofC campus, where people are usually hanging around. But it is worth the trek or drive for sure. Their caramel cupcake is my favorite cake in the entire world. I want it to be my wedding cake. I’m serious. I don’t even know if they do wedding cakes, but I’m already planning on negotiating with them when the time comes.

What should you order?

the caramel cupcake, the caramel cupcake, and oh yeah, the caramel cupcake

St. Patrick’s Day Gingham

Can you believe that St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner? Yesterday while I was making my bed, I randomly thought, “I miss Christmas.” I’m still over here suffering from lingering feelings of post-Christmas sadness, and St. Patrick’s Day is about to come up and smack us in the face with a giant green four leaf clover (figuratively of course, depending on how wild your St. Patrick’s Days get). The point is that time flies. So in an effort to get my schedule into gear, I put together an outfit that would be so cute for the holiday!

This top is from Red Dress Boutique, and I really love it! To be honest, I love anything off the shoulder. I also love anything gingham. So I was sold pretty much instantly. I would also love this top with some white jeans too! Also if you are looking for a good place to get fun clothes at a decent price, Red Dress Boutique is one of my go-to places!

This year I will be spending St. Patrick’s Day with my dad in Memphis, TN! We are headed to Arkansas over my spring break to visit my grandparents for a few days, but on the way there we are staying the night in Memphis and spending some time there! My dad used to live there before he met my mom, and they actually ended up getting engaged there, so he is excited to show me around. What are your plans for the holiday??
